SMS templates

SMS Templates can be used to automatically generate customised text message content on a matter.

Include Data Markers in your templates to recall Matter and Stakeholder information automatically into the message.

  1. Navigate to Settings > SMS Messages
  2. Select + next to the Folder you would like the SMS template to sit within
To create a new Folder, select + at the top of the Folder list.
  3. Name: Provide a name which will be used when selecting the template on a matter
  4. Description: Provide any information that will help users understand what the template should be used for
  5. Compose: Enter the content of the SMS message
Use data markers and data helpers to ensure the SMS message is custom to the matter it’s being sent from.
  6. Check for Errors: To ensure any data markers or data helpers being used are formatted correctly
  7. Create
  1. Locate the SMS template within the Folders on the left
  2. Edit the required content
  3. Save

Add up to three of your organisation’s labels to an existing SMS template. Create and save a new template before adding labels. You need the Can edit SMS templates permission to edit SMS templates.

  1. Open the template from Settings > SMS Messages
  2. Select Add labels, or select its existing labels
  3. Choose the labels and select Done

Label changes save immediately, without selecting Save. To remove a label, select its cross. Cloning a template keeps its labels, and renaming or recolouring a label updates it on the template.

In the matter’s Folder-tab SMS template picker, labels appear beside the template names. Search for a label name to find templates carrying it. An SMS sent from a labelled template carries those labels in the matter’s Folder tab.

Select Download on an existing template to save a copy. Drag an SMS template file onto the SMS templates page to import it. If its name matches an existing template, the form shows which fields the file changes.

Select Save to keep the imported changes, or Discard changes to return to the saved values. If the file matches the saved template, a message tells you that nothing has changed.

To include data markers within your templates:

  1. Select Insert Data Marker
  2. Use the search bar or filter through your matter templates to find the required marker
  3. Open the group it belongs to
  4. Insert the required data marker into the template

Remember to Check For Errors before saving the template to ensure there are no formatting errors.

Include a form link to let the recipient open the form from their text message:

  1. Within your InTouch Settings, navigate to the form you would like to link within the SMS template
  2. Copy the link on the left-hand side of the page under the text:
“Use the following snippet in email & document templates and even within a different form to give the receiver a link to this form”
  3. Paste this link into the SMS template you would like to add the form link to
When the SMS template is sent from a matter, the link will direct the user to complete the relevant form. Once complete, the form submission will return to the matter!
